Summer Art Workshops at Squirrel Nest Studio
Sumi-e, Botanical and Landscape Watercolor
Tuesdays, 10 am - 3:30 pm
July 27, August 3, 10, 17, 31
Minimum 3 - maximum 5 students
Open studio class focus on sumi-e botanical and landscape paintingIn pencil, ink or watercolor. Beginners to advanced students.

Fee: one class: $80, three classes $225, four  classes $320, six classes $450. Bring lunch, live potted specimen or photos of landscape or use the studio woodland garden landscape. Materials list available. (Studio has fans and cold/hot tea) contact: rozenart@aol.com  or call: 845-733-1848

Sumi-e Brush Painting
Learn traditional Chinese and Japanese brush painting skills with bamboo brushes, using ground ink on rice paper.  Create rich tonal values for the “Four Gentlemen” - Bamboo, Orchid, Plum and Chrysanthemum and their basic brush strokes. Beginners start with ink only while intermediate and advanced students use watercolor and ink. Landscape, animals and other floral subjects are explored. Materials list and RSRosenthal Sumi-e workbook text available for sale in class. Fee per session plus text and materials.

Roberta Rosenthal’s botanical art has been featured on invitations for the Annual Luncheon of the Women’s Division American Committee to benefit Shaare Zedek’s Medical Center Women's and Children's Divison in Jerusalem, Israel. Donation of original art for auction. In addition she has created Jewish New Years Cards printed by ArtScroll Printing Corporation for their benefit as well. 1995 - 2004

Roberta donated her art to Maimonides Medical Center for an upcoming auction on December 8, 2002, the Star Project, to benefit the new children's hospital. She created a mask entitled "Star Princess". For more information e-mail Roberta. 11/2002

Society of Illustrators, New York, Volunteer.
Painted art work for the Children’s Cancer Playroom at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital in Manhattan featuring Passover and Chanuka themes. 1997 - 2002

Jewish Community Center in Tarrytown, New York, Volunteer. Worked with Rabbi Emanual Vinas and a volunteer group to restore a Torah from Tegucigalpa, Honduras. The Torah was damaged during Hurricane Mitch in 1998. Worked on the project from beginning to completion. 1998 -1999

Academy of Jewish Religion, New York. Full semester course in Jewish Meditation. Instructors: Rabbi Goldie Milgram, Mindy Ribner and Rabbi Shefa Gold. Instruction in Jewish meditation practices, including: Kabbalah, Zohar, chanting and personal exploration. 1999

Riverdale YW-YMHA, Bronx, New York, Instructor: Rabbi Richard Kirsch
