• Basic Drawing, Botanical Watercolor •

Wednesdays, April 10, 17, May 1, 8, 15, 22, 2024
10:30 AM - 1:30 PM


Graphite, Watercolor pencil, watercolor from tubes and or Gouache.

Beginners to advanced students work from instructors
lessons or bring your own live plant/flower/ or photo
landscape, still life reference to work from.

 

Limited to four students maximum at Squirrels Nest Studio.

Basic drawing explores how to use materials, line drawing, contour, basic shapes, perspective, proportion, tone values, shading and composition. It can relate to plant and garden themes, still life or landscapes.

Turn drawings into watercolor with watercolor pencil and/or tube pigments. Beginners to advanced. All welcome.

Geared to mature teens - seniors.

1 class $140. per private class for both sessions. 

Take all 4 (four) classes as a "group of 4 (four) students" for $200. each person for 3 hour session.

Class is rescheduled if there is extreme weather impending.

Drawing and watercolor painting techniques
Semi-private instruction at
Squirrels Nest Studio.

Time: 10:30 am - 3:30 pm

Instructor:  R. Rosenthal

Draw with graphite pencils, watercolor pencils and tube or pan watercolors detailed realistic botanical subjects. Flowers, live plants or dried specimens. Limited to 4 students.

Fee: $140.00 for full day.

Please bring lunch for full day class. Beverages are supplied.

 

Zoom or Facetime private video instruction 

is available by appointment only. $150 per hour.

• Calligraphy Basics: 

classes at Squirrels Nest Studio

Learn Basic calligraphy using marker calligraphy pens on parchment paper.

Learn letter forms of Italic, Roman and Uncial font alphabets and numerals. 

With practice you will learn how to use the basic calligraphy for invitations, holiday menus, poems or greeting cards/envelopes

Squirrels Nest Studio Private Mentorship

For beginners, intermediate and advanced students. Work on personal projects with the assistance of a seasoned professional to help solve technical and creative blocks. Create a new series or portfolio. Exhibit development. Watercolor pencil, graphite pencil for drawing and use sumi-e ink, watercolor or gouache on rice paper or archival watercolor paper. Depict flowers, feathers, shells, insects, birds, animals or still lifelandscapes. If you have a project in mind bring live or dried references for flowers or other items. Materials list on request.

In person or zoom/facetime. $150 per hour.

Learn how to exhibit your fine art and what you need to know about commercial art commissions and licensing. Learn how to use social media to market your work such as Facebook, Instagram, or Pinterest, blogs, Instagram and more. Basic web site development and blog using your lap top computer. Best of all how to price your art for any market. 

 

Excellent for high school seniors, college graduates or those who wish to increase their marketing skills or art career direction.

Instructor, Roberta Rosenthal was an executive director of job placement for the Graphic Artists Guild of NY, she represented a variety of artists in graphic design, illustration and fine art from her own studio from 1977-2000. She has participated in portfolio reviews for The Fashion Institute of Technology, Connecticut State College, Parsons School of Design, Advertising Associations, AWED, Women in Design, and taught Business Practices for Artists at the NY Botanical Gardens from 1990 - 2015, GNSI and studied artist representation with Elaine Sorel.
